Our Pet Bereavement Support Service has been supporting grieving pet owners for more than 20 years. We now offer training courses and webinars for professionals supporting bereaved pet owners.
Courses for professionals and volunteers
We have developed an accredited eight-week distance learning course to help build your confidence and skills so you can fully support a bereaved pet owner.
We also offer a range of hour-long live interactive webinars where you will learn more about our Pet Bereavement Service, common reactions to grief, and the grieving process.
- Avoidance versus quality of life
- Anticipatory grief
- Children and pet loss
- Tools for supporting bereaved clients
The training course and webinars have been developed especially to enhance skills you already have, teach you new ones and provide you with tools that you can apply to situations when supporting bereaved pet owners within your profession. Supporting people who are distressed and upset is not easy - it takes a special kind of person, and learned skills and practice, to get it right. It is common for people to feel very uncomfortable when talking about death and dying.
When you support someone who is upset and grieving they may not remember everything that you say or do, but they will remember how you made them feel.
