SPVS and VPMA Combined CPD Programme
SPVS is the division of the BVA with a primary focus on matters
concerning vets in practice and the practices where they work.
The Society is a not-for-profit organisation run by a Council elected by the members. We have administrative offices in Warwick run by our permanent full and part-time staff. The Society is financed by member subscriptions, with help from some of the events we organise and occasional support from generous sponsors.
We carry out an annual survey of salaries within the profession (vets and lay staff) which has become the accepted industry point of reference. We also run an annual fees survey and new practice survey.
In partnership with the Veterinary Practice Management Association, we run a programme of CPD and a Joint Annual Congress, the largest non-clinical conference for the UK veterinary profession. We also produce a quarterly journal, Practice Life, in collaboration with VPMA.
SPVS negotiate preferential rates on a range of different services for its members.
The Veterinary Practice Management Association exists to provide individuals who are involved in the management of veterinary practice with an effective means of communication and interaction with others with similar interests, as well as a forum for promoting, providing and recognising training and excellence in all aspects of veterinary practice management. With an active national and regional structure, the VPMA is also able to give its members a voice with which to lobby at all levels.
