About the course

Improving your skills in cytology and blood film examination– become brilliant at the basics and better with the challengers.

To get practical experience and/or more confidence using the in house microscope looking at blood smears, urine sediments and cytology samples.

This course is part lecture based but with a heavy practical component covering cytology and blood film examination. Cytology topics include inflammation, skin tumours and subcutaneous masses, lymph nodes and effusions.

You will learn a systematic approach to blood film examination and how to identify spherocytes and other causes of haemolytic anaemia, left shift and toxic change and leukaemia. Commonly seen conditions as well as more challenging cases are covered, showing potential pitfalls in diagnosis.

Each delegate will have a microscope and plenty of case examples with a question and answer format.
