About the course

The Certificate in Small Animal Nutrition is intended for frontline veterinary professionals who provide advice to the public and clients about nutrition related aspects of health and disease.

The course aims to provide an in-depth knowledge of the principles of clinical nutrition. Content will cover comparative anatomy and physiology, determine the nutrients required for each life stage to maintain optimal health status and consider the relationship between diet and disease as well as dietary management of common diseases.

If you are a veterinary nurse or paraprofessional that would like to advance your knowledge of the role nutrition plays in maintaining animal health, this course will equip you with the proficiency to advise clients and make important contributions to animal welfare as well as within your employed role.

Who is it for?

This certificate is designed for veterinary nurses with a special interest in applied nutrition in dogs and cats seen in veterinary practices in the UK

There are no formal entry requirements for the attendance course; however the assessment is aimed at veterinary nurses and professionals working within the veterinary or commercial pet industry wishing to further their knowledge in nutrition.

How is it delivered?

The course is  a blended learning format, meaning that content is delivered via a combination of online learning and contact teaching days.

  • Attendance – 2 Days

The online course content will be available 4 weeks prior to the attendance days. Delegates are expected to complete the initial section of learning and assessment prior to attending the teaching days.  Completion of the online learning and attendance at the teaching days will be confirmed with a CPD Certificate of attendance.
