About the course
Hope v hype: regenerative & conventional treatment modalities in the management of musculoskeletal disease
The session aims to familiarise and review a wide variety of non-surgical treatment options in canine osteoarthritis and musculotendinous pathology. Emphasis will be placed on regenerative medicine and biological therapeutics. Attendees will gain a thorough understanding of the biological principles underpinning musculoskeletal stem cell-based therapeutics and offer a broadened view of how regenerative medicine may be incorporated into a multifaceted treatment structure. The application of stem cells and PRP as a primary treatment in muscle and tendon lesions will also be described. We will also explore medical management of canine OA, multimodal analgesia and disease-modifying medications, and discuss newcomers to the medication market. Our rehabilitation lead will expand upon supportive therapies including physio and hydrotherapy, underwater treadmill, laser and shockwave use before rounding off the session with case examples and time for Q and A.
