In this 2-day practical course you will be shown how to perform a neurological examination and how to interpret the findings. The application of neuro-diagnostics will be discussed and delegates will gain confidence in performing cisternal and lumbosacral CSF taps. Diagnosis and treatment of various surgical conditions of the spinal cord will be covered. The different approaches to the spinal cord will be demonstrated and delegates given the opportunity to perform hemilaminectomies, dorsal laminectomies and ventral slots. This is a basic course and no previous experience in neurosurgery is required.

  • Neurological examination and lesion localisation
  • Application of neuro-diagnostics (CSF tap, myelography, CT, MRI)
  • Diagnosis and management of surgical diseases of the spinal cord
  • Approaches to the spinal cord (ventral slot, hemilaminectomy, dorsal laminectomy)
