Grading/Awards for Short Courses
Courses that consist of one unit (2 sections) will be awarded a Pass or Credit.To achieve Distinction students must submit a Special Study of approximately 3,000 words in essay form on a topic of the student’s choice that is relevant to their course of study.
Grade A & B+ = Credit Grade B & below = Pass
Section 1 covers the practical information required by those responsible for mating, whelping (or kittening) and weaning of cats and dogs. The importance of soundness and fitness is examined and explained, as is the importance of a suitable environment and socialisation .
Section 2 provides a basic knowledge of genetics and introduces the concepts of hereditability, dominant, recessive and threshold characteristics, inbreeding, line breeding and out crossing.
