Bull breeding soundness examinations are an essential part of the reproductive management of dairy and beef herds using natural mating. On many farms the stock bull is often presumed to be fertile. However, experience shows that a significant number of bulls are sub/in fertile which is costing your clients time and money.

Course content:

  • Anatomy of bull reproductive tract
  • Physiology of bull
  • Physical examination of bull on farm
  • Semen collection (electro-ejaculation)
  • Full semen evaluation including semen motility

Key Outcomes:

  • Be able to undertake a physical examination of a bull
  • Collect semen by electro ejaculation
  • Evaluate the motility and morphology of semen
