About the course
PRACTICAL RADIOGRAPHIC PHYSICS, PROTECTION & THE ROLE OF THE RPS
This course covers practical aspects of radiation physics to allow an understanding of the principles and legalities of radiation protection relevant to veterinary practices in the UK. The course is suitable for any veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse with a particular interest in the subject and is specifically relevant to all radiation protection supervisors.
The impact of IRR17 and HSE interpretation of the legislation as applies to veterinary practices will be discussed.
It should be noted that HSE now require any RPS to have attended a recent, relevant CPD course. MRCVS or RVN qualification alone is not considered sufficient.

- Production of X-rays
- Scattered radiation
- Image production
- Radiation measurement;
- Personal monitoring
- X-ray equipment (including CT)
- Risk; effects of radiation; risk assessment
- RPS duties and responsibilities
