About the course

Intermediate level abdominal & cardiology imaging

By popular demand we have added another date for this course. For veterinary surgeons who have already completed our introductory ultrasound course or those who have been using ultrasound for a while and have built up good foundation skills with ultrasound. The Intermediate course builds on these foundations and helps develop your skill set further. The day will include lectures, demonstrations and practical hands on sessions using a range of scanners that are relevant in today’s modern veterinary surgery. The course is led by Mark Overend BVMS GPCert(Cardio)  AVP Small Animal Cardiology MRCVS.

Topics covered on the course will include:

  • Review of system controls
  • Colour Doppler
  • Intermediate Abdominal Ultrasound – GI tract, adrenals etc
  • Intermediate Cardiac Ultrasound

Goals of the day:

You will end the day with much improved abdominal and cardiac imaging skills with the ability to use colour doppler where relevent and useful. You’ll have more confidence to make a diagnosis in the trickier to image parts of the abdomen and to reliably get good images of the heart in long and short axis allowing you to take measurement sets for M mode and basic Doppler studies

Mount International United Services will provide all of the scanning equipment required for this ultrasound course. As we are not a veterinary surgery, we don’t have animals on site, so we would politely request that delegates bring along a friendly dog for the course. A discount will be applied to those bringing an animal along that can be scanner. Please be aware that the animals will require clipping in order to scan.
