Understanding Thoracic Radiology - A Practical Guide

About the course

This course is designed for those in general practice wishing to brush up their skills and develop a systematic approach to thoracic radiological interpretation in the digital age.

Presentation will be seminar style, based around practical hands-on film reading of digital thoracic radiographs in small groups in order to build confidence and experience in interpretation. The sessions are informal to maximise the opportunity for interaction.

We will cover the diagnosis of a variety of thoracic abnormalities including conditions which may manifest with similar radiographic signs, discussing potential pitfalls in interpretation, differential diagnosis and further investigations.

Reference will be made to alternative imaging and selection of the most appropriate imaging modality on a case-by- case basis; however the primary focus of the day will be radiology.

Topics include:

  • Where do we go from here?: Selection of an appropriate imaging modality and further investigations
  • Thoracic differential diagnosis: A “how-to” guide.
  • The mystery of the feline lung: asthma, tuberculosis, neoplasia and more.
  • Masses and opacities: intrathoracic neoplasia and inflammation
Intended for: Veterinary Surgeons
