This innovative and novel four-day residential the course will cover key areas of dairy herd health (including reproduction, mastitis, lameness, youngstock disease). The core principles involved with the monitoring, investigation, and control of these conditions in dairy herds will be discussed in detail. Using case examples and workshops, this course will equip participants with the skills required to approach the herd health in dairy herds using an evidenced-based approach. There will also be a discussion on how to fit these herd health programmes into your busy daily practice schedule. Accommodation is offered for three nights
(Sunday-Tuesday) and all refreshments, lunches and evening meals are included. The course will commence on Sunday afternoon with an
informal introduction, followed by three days at the School, including visits to the Dairy Centre. Informal discussions over evening dinner will
contribute to the CPD hours of the course.

- Dairy herd reproduction
- Mastitis and milk hygiene
- Lameness in dairy cows
- Youngstock management
- Learning objectives:
- Provide a dairy herd health advisory service
- Describe an appropriate dairy herd health the monitoring regime
- Be familiar with using computer software to review and analyze dairy herd performance
- Able to apply the principles of evidence-based medicine to dairy herd health
