About the course
Animals have the amazing ability to eat the most unfortunate of things. As such, toxicological emergencies are frequently seen in veterinary practice. As veterinary nurses, we are likely to have significant involvement with these cases; from initial first stage advice to clients on the phone, through to the treatment and any associated inpatient nursing care. Prompt and appropriate action is vital in gaining the most successful outcome for these patients, and this course aims to update your knowledge of:
- Medications commonly used when dealing with toxicities
- Gastrointestinal decontamination
- Commonly used emetics
- Commonly ingested poisons including paracetamol, NSAIDs, chocolate, anticoagulants and more!
