About the course

This heavily practical foundation course introduces the principles of surgery in a way that is practical, fun and relevant to the procedures covered by Schedule III. Whilst highlighting the legal aspects on which minor surgeries are allowed to be performed, the course is very hands on and delegates are encouraged to take an active part in the day's sessions. By the end of this course you should have a better understanding of what instruments to use and when, which suture material to choose and why, and what suture pattern to use. The course will also cover a basic understanding of wound healing and how to avoid complications. Delegates will take part in a hands on suturing workshop with close supervision and tuition. This is essential to making you feel confident enough to try Schedule III surgeries for yourself back in practice and the course culminates in a simulated practical lumpectomy under the course tutor's supervision. (Note: live animals and cadavers are NOT used on this course).
